EQUAL-TO-THE-APOSTLES

EQUAL-TO-THE-APOSTLES (or “Equal of the Apostles“)  One of the various customary saint titles used in commemoration at divine services when remembering saints on the Church Calendar.   One whose work greatly built up the Church, whether through direct missionary work or through assisting the Church’s place in society.  Such as:

  • St Nino (Nina), Equal of the Apostles and Enlightener of Georgia
  • St Nicholas, Equal of the Apostles and Archbishop of Japan
  • St Methodius, Equal of the Apostles and Archbishop of Moravia, Enlightener of the Slavs
  • St Boris (in Holy Baptism Michael), Equal of the Apostles, Prince and Baptizer of Bulgaria
  • Equal of the Apostles and Teacher of the Slavs, Cyril
  • Equal of the Apostles and Teacher of the Slavs, Methodius
  • Equal of the Apostles and Emperor Constantine with his Mother Helen
