The Fasts of the Church:
The Great Fast (Lent) lasts 48 days before Easter. The Fast of St. Peter and Paul begins on Monday after Sunday of all Saints and lasts till July 12. The Fast which precedes the Feast of the Falling Asleep of Holy Virgin Mary, or Assumption of Holy Virgin Mary, lasts 14 days (August 14 till Aug. 28). The fast preparatory to Christmas from November 15 (28) — Christmas. All Wednesdays and Fridays except after Christmas, Sunday of Publican and Pharisee, Easter Sunday and Pentecost.
