SANCTIFICATION - 1) Literally, "being set apart" to God. The process of growth in Christ whereby the believer is made holy as God is holy, through the Holy Spirit (2 Pet. 1; Rom. 6:22; Rom. 15:16). See also DEIFICATION, JUSTIFICATION and SALVATION.

2) (an appellation or Title of Jesus)  "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:"  1 Cor 1:30
